Why Recommend Alderspring?

We are certified organic. This means no antibiotics, hormones, fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, GMOs, glyphosate, or irradiation, ever. Grass-fed labeling requires none of these standards. We’ve partnered with our local agencies to certify as organic the largest contiguous acreage in the U.S., which means over 70 square miles of Idaho are protected from pesticides through our certification. And unlike grass fed and claims of “beyond organic,” the organic certification is the most highly regulated and inspected health label there is. It’s the only way customers can be absolutely certain that they are truly getting a pure, healthy product.

We are 100% grass fed and finished. From the day our calves are weaned, they eat nothing but the highest quality Idaho grass. Our cattle never see a feedlot, but are on pasture every day of the year. We take “grassfed” beyond the typical farmed non-native grasses to truly wild, diverse, and nutrient-rich native grasses on our pristine remote rangelands. We run our herd in rugged, untouched mountain pastures far from civilization and chemicals. There is no comparable source of wild grass fed beef anywhere.

We are a small-scale, family owned operation that your readers can trust. We aren’t a faceless corporation with many different sources of beef. It’s just us: Glenn and Caryl Elzinga and our seven daughters. Because of our own health challenges, our family is passionate about growing food that contributes to wellness. We are highly sensitive to the need for clean food for people on a wellness journey. Our conservation commitment runs deep, a part of who we are. As professional ecologists we have pioneered innovative ecological herding techniques to protect wildlife and endangered species habitats on our range as well as coexist with large predators like wolves and bears.
We have perfected our grass fed beef over nearly a quarter century of raising 100% grass fed , long before it was trendy. We are sticklers for quality and our reputation show it. It is why Mark Schatzer, who chronicled his year-long quest for the perfect steak in his book Steak, found what he was looking for on Alderspring Ranch. We have also honed and perfected our shipping strategies during over a decade of shipping beef direct to customers. Our customers get frozen solid carefully packed boxes every time. And if something goes wrong we make it right. It is why we have shipped over 20,000 boxes of beef, most to repeat customers and fans.
