Next Shipping Date: Monday, June 29th

Monday, June 29th we are shipping 2nd Day Air to all states except CO, ID, MT, UT, & WY due to the Fourth of July holiday. Normal summer shipping rates will resume next week.

We generally ship every Monday, holiday weeks excepting (see calendar). You’ll get a tracking number when we ship your order. UPS may initially show an extra day of transit time, but will correct late Monday night when orders hit the Salt Lake hub.

We restock every Wednesday and send out a sale flyer on Wednesday in the early evening with the week’s deals.

Wild weather is hitting the range this week! Glenn caught this shot over Little Hat Canyon while out checking the beeves. Photo by Glenn.

It’s the view from the tilted plateau. The beeves are right behind Glenn as he grabbed this shot across the deep Salmon River Canyon. The 11,000 ft Lemhi range is in the distance; tonight on June 26th, the peaks are forecasted to have up to 6 inches of snow. Photo by Glenn.

This is Alderspring’s lower Little Hat Ranch, a remote in holding surrounded by public land in the Idaho backcountry. In the distance you can spot a sprinkling of canvas tents which has been the Cow Camp for the range rider team for the past couple of weeks. If you look just to the right of the lush greenery of Little Hat Creek bottom you can see a band of ungrazed upland grasses marked by a light color running about a hundred yards above the creek. The contrast of light to dark is a virtual fence line generated by the collars we’ve placed on the cattle. It’s that kind of complete control that we will be able to use as a tool for protecting vast areas of habitat in the Idaho backcountry from excessive cattle grazing and streambank alteration! Little Hat Creek used to be mostly devegetated and was pretty much a muddy ditch with water running through it in years past. But now the water runs clear and you can see young willows and wetland grasses colonizing the stream banks. It’s transformed by herding out cattle on horseback, the use of polywire electric fence and now the new technology of virtual fence. We’re excited that we have more tools in our toolbox than ever to recover these ecosystems! Photo by Glenn.
