Ranch News

Springtime is finally turning to summer on the ranch! We know that the mountain snowstorms are finally going to end when the coyote willows start leafing out! Photo by Glenn.

The grandkids are doing their earnest part and cleaning up a pasture and making it into a lawn for a wedding coming up this next weekend! More on this later! Photo by Glenn.

The annual cover crops that yielded to perennial grassland are finally coming to fruition on the North Ranch thanks to the earnest work of the Rains family who caretake all of it for us! Photo by Glenn.

This is one of the last cow calving camp spikes of the year! In the distance you can see the peppering of cattle still calving on surrounding hills. Over three quarters of the cattle have calved now, but they’re still trickling out at a rate of a few a day. Photo by Glenn.

Sunrise hits the calving hills near Camp 3. Photo by Glenn.

They all have new satellite collars on, and all the calves are ready for the next step to turn out into the new High Country. This is on our little hat Ranch in the middle of our 70 square miles of grazing, and we thought it was a good place to stage them for the move to the highest ranges for the summer. Photo by Glenn.
