This Week’s Story: The First Flowers of Spring
Twelve thousand men were in serious trouble, despite the onset of spring in 1778. The Continental Army was already in dire straits after several brutalizing defeats through the autumn of 1777. Most lacked uniforms, and some walked barefoot, wrapping rags around their frozen feet. They were sorely in need of basic gear or victuals to survive the winter at the junction between Valley Creek and the Schuylkill River next to a remote iron forge in the middle of the Appalachians…..

We generally ship every Monday, holiday weeks excepting (see calendar). You’ll get a tracking number when we ship your order. UPS may initially show an extra day of transit time, but will correct late Monday night when orders hit the Salt Lake hub.

We’ve had so many beautiful sunsets the last couple weeks, but this was one for the books! So many beautiful blues and pinks. -Melanie

We got some welcome moisture last week, with a fair amount of snow in the high country and rain in the valley. We woke up to a beautiful morning with fog still clinging to the mountains. -Melanie

The sheep are starting to graze a little green grass, but they’re still getting a full ration of leafy, green alfalfa too! They’re pretty well trained at this point and all come running when they hear the feed truck. -Melanie

The yearling cattle grazing (and eating their daily ration of hay) below some more of those sun-transformed mountains! The combination of snow up high and green in the valley is so beautiful, which is part of the reason spring is my favorite season. -Melanie
